Gone are the times when childhood was all about pampering & spoonfeeding them until they turn certain age. Times have changed with more educated & involved parents.
First of all teaching Lifeskills means you’re taking a step towards gender neutral parenting. You unlearn to discriminate chores basis gender.
Lifeskills teach you the way of life and to conduct yourself in a manner you’re self sufficient in any given situation.
Imbibing Lifeskills doesn’t mean you force it up on them everyday just try to involve them in a small chores in a fun manner and then let their interest takeover.
Follow your child’s lead let them explore the entire house and observe what all routine chores takes place daily.
They will slowly show interest in folding clothes, keeping things in place, help you in kitchen, try to clean their toys etc.
Assume they are pretend playing in every chore with you in their small ways.
In a way lifeskills makes a child more confident, develops their EQ, let’s them decide for themselves, makes them feel responsible, learns to be helpful & most importantly will be more self sufficient.
Few Lifeskills that we can include basis their interest –
π Washing, Cleaning, Dusting.
π Laundry, Folding, Drying clothes.
π Cooking, Chopping, Meal Preparations.
π Brushing, Bathing, Changing Clothes.
π Taking care of their belongings.
π Organising their Books & Toys.
Not necessarily they do all of these in their future life but will not hesitate or get struck if they have to do it going forward.
Instilling lifeskills is more of a parenting vision you have for your child.
